I write travel and lifestyle pieces, academic research, and professional copy.
I’m also giving poetry and fiction a try. My work has appeared in books, magazines,
newspapers, and journals in the USA, Canada, Singapore, and the UK. After spending
nearly a third of my life in Asia, I am now back in Texas. I miss Tokyo and Singapore, but am
enjoying the chance to explore the USA.
I want to entertain and inspire readers to explore! I try to encourage cultural competency and responsible travel.
My areas of interest is foreign policy, development, and economic liberalism in Japan, Southeast Asia, and China.
These are my newest genres! I'm interested in identity conflicts, sci-fi, and sub-cultural themes.
I write copy and create comprehensive marketing strategies for my client organizations.
"The pivotal debate hinged on speculation about China's actions in the region, particularly in relation to its maritime and territorial disputes with Japan, the Philippines, and Vietnam."
"...frantic techno blared from the speakers, seeming completely at odds with the virgin countryside. His driving kept time with his music as he whipped around cliffs, and darted between mules and carts. We felt a surreal foreboding of death from the nodding dachshund, as we looked from our mysterious, silent driver to the uneven dirt road ahead."
"'We are motivated by the intangible,' Liew reflects. 'It’s not about controlling an idea. It’s about a global network made of catalysts.' The Chain Reaction Project, as its name implies, is about connectivity."
"Not all threats to the stability and prosperity of Singapore come from the outside. Because of its small size, but incredible demographic diversity, Singapore must take proactive steps to constrain radicalism in any form, and ensure balance and prosperity."
"You are young. You have time. You are female. Someone will guide you. You are pretty. People will forgive you."
"Born Texas twang. Raised American generic. Educated London posh. Lived broken Japanese."
"My sense of adventure and self-assurance weakened under a chain of urgent questions. I asked myself, not for the last time: What are you doing here? How can you possibly succeed when you know nothing and no one to help you? Do you even know what you are going to do tomorrow?"
"On August 9, 2015, the country of Singapore celebrated its 50th birthday as the world watched. Though it may be small in size, Singapore has exploded onto the international scene as a global hub for business."
